Case study · Global phone software company
A global phone software company's Korean website won Naver's answer box for how-to searches, built on more than 90 articles I wrote over 16 months.

Client
A global software company that makes data recovery and phone repair tools for iPhone and Android, with a Korean-language website.
The problem
Korean users with a broken phone or lost data search Naver in Korean, often in a panic, and they click the first answer that tells them exactly what to do. Translated product pages do not answer those questions, and on Naver a company website competes with Naver's own blogs and Q&A for the same spot.
What I did
- Wrote more than 90 Korean how-to articles for the company's Korean website between April 2023 and August 2024.
- Covered the problems Korean users actually search: recovering photos and messages after a reset, backing up KakaoTalk chats, fixing iOS update errors, formatting SD cards and getting past lock screens.
- Wrote each article as a step-by-step answer first, with the company's tool as one of the methods, so it reads as help, not an ad.
- Used the phrasing Korean users type, including Galaxy and KakaoTalk terms that never appear in English source material.
Results
- Two Naver Knowledge Snippets for the company's own website: one for recovering deleted voice recordings on iPhone, one for unlocking a SIM card. The snippet is the answer box at the top of Naver's results.
- Above the paid ads. In the voice recording search, the company's article sat above the competitors' Naver search ads.
- A website, not a blog. Both answers came from the company's own site, which is harder to place on Naver than a Naver blog post.
- More than 90 articles over 16 months, on a steady monthly schedule.
Why it worked
Naver gives its answer box to the page that answers the question most directly in natural Korean. Writing every article around one real Korean question, and answering it in the first few lines, let a foreign company's website win a spot Naver usually keeps for its own content.
